A contract position is available for an experienced LPN/LVN to work one-on-one with a student requiring specialized medical attention. This rewarding opportunity is based near St. Charles and Naperville, IL, within a school setting.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in a child’s daily educational experience, providing skilled and compassionate care. The primary responsibilities include managing g-tube feedings, monitoring glucose levels, administering insulin, and supporting carb counting for a student with Down Syndrome.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active LPN or LVN license in Illinois
- Experience in pediatric, school, or one-on-one care settings preferred
- Proficiency in g-tube feeding techniques
- Confident in diabetic management—glucose monitoring, carb counting, insulin administration
- Comfortable using digital health tracking tools (experience with Blue Loop is a plus)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with school staff and parents
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and document approximately eight g-tube feedings throughout the school day
- Monitor and log blood glucose readings using Blue Loop technology
- Calculate carbohydrates and accurately administer insulin dosages per care plan
- Remain attentive to the student’s health status and respond to needs promptly
- Serve as a reliable advocate for the student in the classroom and during activities
