An opportunity is available for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) specializing in school-based nursing care, serving K-12 students in Newark, NJ. This contract position spans the current school year and requires compassionate and skilled nursing professionals to provide dedicated 1:1 care for two young students with specific medical needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing individualized nursing care for a 3-year-old student with gastrointestinal (GI) tube and potential tracheostomy (trach) care requirements.
- Delivering 1:1 nursing support for an elementary-aged student requiring trach care.
- Administering nursing interventions and monitoring student health throughout the school day.
- Collaborating with educational staff and families to ensure appropriate care plans and communication.
- Maintaining a safe, supportive environment tailored to each student’s medical needs.
Qualifications and experience:
- Current LPN/LVN licensure.
- Experience with pediatric nursing, especially in gastrointestinal tube feeding and tracheostomy care.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly in a school setting.
- Comfort providing care without transportation duties (no bus riding).
- Strong communication and organizational skills for coordinating with school personnel.
Position details:
- Location: Newark, New Jersey.
- Serving K-12 school students.
- Contract duration: Current school year.
- Student 1: 18 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with a 3-year-old student.
- Student 2: 30 hours per week (6 hours/day, 5 days/week) with an elementary student.
