Qualifications and Skills:

• Current, active licensure as either an LPN or RN
• Prior experience working in a school or pediatric setting is highly valued
• Thorough understanding of seizure disorders and skilled in monitoring for symptoms
• Confident and capable of administering Diastat in emergency situations
• Excellent communication and rapport with students, school staff, and families
• Calm demeanor with the ability to act swiftly and decisively under pressure

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accompany a high school student to and from school exclusively on the bus route
• Monitor the student’s condition, specifically for signs of seizure activity
• Administer Diastat or other emergency interventions as prescribed, when necessary
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and communicate significant observations to relevant parties
• Provide empathy, compassion, and reassurance to the student throughout bus rides
• Coordinate with school nursing staff and parents regarding care needs and updates
• Contract period runs ASAP through 6/25/27, with opportunity for renewal during summer and next academic year if it’s a strong fit
