Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Newport News, VA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working one-on-one with a middle school student as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the upcoming school year. This role provides the chance to make a vital impact by supporting a student with absence seizures, ensuring their safety and well-being during the school day. Your schedule will run Monday through Friday, from 7:30am to 3:30pm, with the unique aspect of accompanying the student on daily bus rides to ensure seamless care from home to school and back.

Key Qualifications:

• Active LPN/LVN license in good standing
• Previous pediatric, school, or 1:1 nursing experience is highly valued
• Ability to administer seizure rescue medication (nasal spray) confidently
• Skilled in monitoring vital signs, including blood pressure and temperature checks
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with school staff and parents
• Compassionate, attentive, and professional approach to care

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous support for a middle school student with absence seizures
• Closely observe and promptly respond to seizure activity, delivering appropriate care
• Administer prescribed rescue medication as needed
• Monitor and document vital signs and medical events accurately
• Ride the school bus to and from school with the student, ensuring safety at all times
• Collaborate with the educational team and guardian to support the student’s health plan
