School LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Newport News, Virginia

A skilled and compassionate LPN is needed to provide 1:1 support for an elementary school student throughout the school year. This role includes accompanying the student during regular school hours and riding the bus to ensure their safety, comfort, and continued well-being.

Key Qualifications:

• Current and unrestricted LPN or LVN license
• Previous experience in a pediatric, school, or 1:1 support setting is highly desirable
• Ability to provide empathetic and proactive care for children with complex needs
• Clear communication skills to liaise with school staff, family, and healthcare professionals
• CPR/BLS certification (current)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to complete the entirety of the contracted school year
• Comfortable with bus transport alongside the student

Primary Responsibilities:

• Offer attentive 1:1 medical care and supervision for an elementary-aged student during school hours and on the bus
• Administer medications or treatments per the student’s care plan
• Monitor and respond to changes in the student’s health status promptly
• Maintain thorough documentation of daily care, interventions, and observations
• Foster a supportive school environment by collaborating with educators and staff
• Serve as an advocate for the student’s health and ensure a safe and comfortable experience at school and in transit

This contract position spans from August 24th through June 9th, with working hours from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM, following the school’s regular schedule.
