This contract opportunity is ideal for a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) seeking an engaging school-based position in the Parsippany, NJ area. You’ll play a vital role supporting a non-verbal student with autism, diabetes, and respiratory needs, ensuring safety, comfort, and an inclusive learning experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN or LPN/LVN license (RN preferred)
- Experience working with children, particularly those with autism and complex medical needs
- Proficiency in diabetes management (Dexcom monitoring)
- Familiarity with feeding assistance; able to provide pureed meals
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with school staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily care for a non-verbal student, monitoring for signs of distress or intervention needs
- Manage diabetes care using Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring and follow prescribed care plan
- Attend to respiratory concerns and proactively support the student’s health needs
- Feed student pureed foods at appropriate meal times
- Collaborate closely with the building nurse and other staff to ensure effective care and transitions
- Remain with the same student throughout the school day; you will not be reassigned or required to ride the bus
- Typical hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 8:45 am to 3:30 pm
