What you’ll need to succeed:
- Current and valid LPN license in New Jersey
- Previous nursing experience in a pediatric, school, or community health setting is highly valued
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in medical emergencies
- Comfort working with students from various backgrounds and with a range of health needs
- Flexibility to adapt during the school day and to changing circumstances
- Team-oriented attitude and a dedication to patient advocacy
Key responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, allergies)
- Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and parents regarding students’ health needs
- Maintain accurate student health records and follow reporting protocols
- Conduct health screenings and promote healthy habits within the school community
- Support the implementation of individualized health care plans
