Step into a fulfilling opportunity where your nursing expertise supports both student health and inclusive education. As a staff nurse/teaching assistant, you’ll work on a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, providing valuable care while enriching students' daily experiences.
Your primary focus will be assisting in classrooms, guiding students to inclusion activities, and contributing to a positive, engaging environment. While daily nursing responsibilities are minimal, your clinical skills will be essential when supporting a second room that serves students requiring tube feedings, seizure monitoring, medication management, and oversight during meals for aspiration concerns. Flexibility is key, as you may be called upon to substitute in other areas to ensure all students have consistent nursing coverage.
Qualifications:
- LPN or LVN licensure with an active credential, ideally with prior pediatric or school-based experience.
- Competency in medication administration, tube feeding, and monitoring for seizures or aspiration.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a teaching assistant, assisting with instruction and activities.
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient manner with students and staff.
- Adaptability to support other locations or student needs as required by the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support daily classroom learning and student participation in inclusion classes.
- Provide specialized healthcare as needed for select students.
- Actively engage with students, helping with transitions and classroom routines.
- Step into alternate assignments within the building or nearby locations if additional nursing support is necessary.
Embrace a role where your dual talents as a nurse and teaching assistant shape a supportive, inclusive environment. If you’re eager to make a positive difference every day, apply now to become a vital part of a caring educational community.
