Make a meaningful impact as a 1:1 LPN working with a dedicated student near Saint Charles, IL! This rewarding contract opportunity places you at the heart of a supportive school environment, where your specialized care will help a student achieve their full potential throughout the academic day.
In this role, you’ll provide essential nursing care for a student with Down Syndrome, including eight daily g-tube feedings and diabetic management. Responsibilities include closely monitoring blood glucose via Blue Loop, administering insulin, and carefully carb counting to maintain optimal student health—all of which contribute to the student’s safety, comfort, and ability to participate in school activities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active LPN or LVN license in the state of Illinois (unrestricted)
- Experience in school health services, pediatric or 1:1 nursing preferred
- Familiarity with g-tube feedings, insulin administration, and diabetes management
- Compassionate, patient-focused mindset
- Excellent communication with school staff, students, and families
- Proficiency with digital documentation platforms (experience with Blue Loop a plus)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and document g-tube feedings per schedule
- Conduct routine blood glucose checks and administer insulin as indicated
- Accurately carb count and ensure appropriate nutrition management
- Monitor student’s condition and collaborate with educators, school health officials, and family
- Respond appropriately to any health emergencies
- Maintain a caring, encouraging, and inclusive presence
