Utilize your expertise as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the school environment, working closely with one young student during both summer and regular academic sessions. You'll play a vital role in ensuring safe participation in school routines while collaborating with educators and families.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active LPN license, with eligibility in Washington State
- Previous experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or similar settings preferred
- Comfortable supporting students with trach and vent needs
- Ability to respond confidently in emergency situations and follow care protocols
- Strong communication skills for interacting with staff, parents, and students
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to individualized care
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one nursing care for a 5-year-old student with trach and vent, who is otherwise active and mobile
- Monitor and manage respiratory equipment, ensuring safety and proper function throughout the school day
- Support the student’s participation in preschool summer learning, transitioning to kindergarten-age programming during the academic year
- Work a part-time schedule (3 days/week, mornings) for summer session; transition to full-time, five days per week (school hours) in the new school year
- Escort student as needed and maintain health records and care logs
- Communicate effectively with educational staff and the student’s guardians, fostering a supportive team environment
