Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Licensed Vocational Nurse serving schools in the Sunnyvale, CA, area. This full-time, school-year contract (30 hours per week) focuses on a 1:1 position with medically fragile students ranging from ages 4 to 22. The position is itinerant—you will rotate between students and multiple campuses, allowing you to make an impact across different sites while working closely with both staff and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review seizure and individualized health plans for assigned students
  • Train school staff on essential health procedures and emergency protocols
  • Build relationships with parents and take the time to get to know each student’s unique needs
  • Remain on call to respond to urgent health situations during the school day
  • Provide compassionate, direct care for students with diverse medical needs
  • Administer medications, assist with diabetes management (CGM, insulin, carb counting), perform bladder catheterization, and manage gastrostomy care
  • Support students with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, and other complex health profiles

Qualifications:

  • Valid LPN/LVN license, with experience in a school setting required
  • Proficiency in caring for medically fragile children and adolescents
  • Familiarity with managing hypo- and hyperglycemia, as well as emergency medications (e.g., EpiPen, Benadryl)
  • Experience working with students with ASD and developmental challenges
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, though not required
  • Comfortable working across multiple school sites and adapting to a variety of student needs
  • Professional, compassionate communication style
