A rewarding opportunity is available for a licensed vocational nurse passionate about supporting students in a dynamic school environment. This full-time, full school year contract role centers around providing 1:1 care to medically fragile students and will involve rotating between different students and campuses in the area. The role offers the chance to build meaningful relationships and play a critical role in a school’s student care network.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active LPN/LVN license and credentials to practice in California
- Prior experience working in a school setting required
- Proficiency in care for students ages 4-22 with complex needs: including gastronomy, bladder catheterization, diabetes/insulin care, CGM/carb counting, ASD/developmental delays, experience managing hypo- and hyperglycemia
- Ability to administer medication (epinephrine, Benadryl, and others)
- Strong communication skills; comfortable connecting with parents, students, and school staff
- Bilingual Spanish skills highly valued, but not mandatory
Primary Responsibilities:
- Rotate between different students and school sites as an itinerant nurse
- Review and maintain seizure and individual health plans
- Conduct staff training on student-specific medical procedures
- Serve as the main point of contact for urgent health needs throughout the day
- Deliver hands-on care with compassion and skill, ensuring student safety and comfort
- Liaise with families to understand medical histories, preferences, and care needs
