Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Wichita, KS

A fulfilling opportunity awaits a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has a passion for providing individualized care in an educational setting. This full-time, contract position involves working 1:1 with a 12th-grade student who requires comprehensive, medically complex support throughout the school day. Staff hours are 7:40 am to 3:10 pm.

The student you’ll support has a range of healthcare needs, including a trach, GI tube, wheelchair mobility, and several complex diagnoses such as Traumatic Brain Injury, intractable epilepsy, spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease, and other associated conditions. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring safety and access to education in a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications:

• Current, active LPN/LVN license
• Experience in tracheostomy and GI tube care required
• Previous work with medically complex pediatric or adolescent patients (preferred)
• Proficiency in seizure management, respiratory care, and feeding tube protocols
• Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability
• Ability to lift and transfer as needed

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 nursing care and support throughout the school day
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and perform routine procedures (e.g., GI tube feeds, trach care)
• Respond promptly to emergencies, including seizure activity and respiratory distress
• Document daily health-related activities and communicate with educational and medical teams
• Ensure student’s comfort, safety, and participation during instructional and non-instructional activities
