This contract opportunity is ideal for a Licensed Practical Nurse dedicated to providing specialized, compassionate care for a student requiring tracheostomy management. The position is part-time, beginning at one hour each afternoon onsite, with the potential to gradually increase as the student's endurance grows.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in Washington
  • Demonstrated expertise in airway management, specifically with tracheostomy care
  • Prior nursing experience in pediatric or school environments strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, school staff, and caregivers
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to adapt as the student’s needs evolve

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver attentive, one-on-one nursing care to a student with a tracheostomy during afternoon hours
  • Monitor the student’s respiratory status and overall wellbeing, intervening promptly as needed
  • Perform tracheostomy suctioning, cleaning, and emergency procedures per care plan and physician directives
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate health status and progress to appropriate team members
  • Serve as a health resource for educational staff regarding the student’s specialized needs
