The position is part-time, beginning at one hour each afternoon onsite, with the potential to gradually increase as the student's endurance grows.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification in Washington
- Demonstrated expertise in airway management, specifically with tracheostomy care
- Prior nursing experience in pediatric or school environments strongly preferred
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, school staff, and caregivers
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible to adapt as the student’s needs evolve
Responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive, one-on-one nursing care to a student with a tracheostomy during afternoon hours
- Monitor the student’s respiratory status and overall wellbeing, intervening promptly as needed
- Perform tracheostomy suctioning, cleaning, and emergency procedures per care plan and physician directives
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and communicate health status and progress to appropriate team members
- Serve as a health resource for educational staff regarding the student’s specialized needs
