School Nurse (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Yorktown, VA

An exciting opportunity awaits a caring and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to support a young student within an elementary school setting. This rewarding contract role is based near Yorktown, VA, providing individualized care to a student throughout the school day and during transportation via the school bus. The position follows the school calendar, beginning August 24 and concluding on June 9, 2027, with consistent hours from 8:15 am to 3:45 pm each school day.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in Virginia
• School-based nursing experience preferred, especially with pediatric or elementary-aged students
• Excellent clinical judgement and the ability to respond effectively in medical situations
• Experience with one-on-one care in educational or pediatric settings
• Compassionate, reliable, and a strong communicator with students, families, and school personnel
• Current certifications in CPR and First Aid
• Must be comfortable and able to ride the bus with the student at the start and end of the school day

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, individualized care for the assigned student throughout the school day
• Monitor, assess, and document the student’s health needs in accordance with healthcare plans
• Administer medications and perform necessary medical/nursing interventions
• Collaborate closely with classroom staff, school health offices, and the student's family
• Ensure a safe, supportive environment for the student’s educational and health needs—on campus and during transportation
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with applicable school and health regulations
