Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Music Therapist, working part-time within a vibrant school setting near Missouri City, TX. In this role, you will bring your expertise to an itinerant caseload, providing both individual and group music therapy services for students with diverse needs. You’ll actively participate in assessment, program development, and family and staff consultation, playing a key role in supporting IEP goals and fostering achievement.
Your impact will include:
- Providing direct music therapy sessions in campus environments with elementary through high school students
- Designing flexible schedules that fit your availability (20 hours/week, with potential for increased hours as new programming develops)
- Assessing student needs, determining eligibility, and crafting individualized therapy goals
- Participating in ARD Committee meetings, interpreting data, and setting student objectives
- Consulting with teachers, administrators, and families to enhance understanding of music therapy strategies and student support
- Facilitating staff development on the value and practice of music therapy
- Creating engaging, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environments for all students
- Completing required documentation and maintaining accurate records in line with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Promoting continuous improvement based on program evaluation findings
Desired experience and requirements:
- National certification in Music Therapy
- Knowledge of music therapy procedures, strategies, and adaptive equipment (please note: music equipment is not provided)
- Background in assessment and service delivery for students with disabilities, including autism and other developmental delays
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work onsite and travel between schools as assigned
- Fingerprint clearance or eligibility per district requirements
