Licensed Music Therapist | Sugar Land, Texas

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Music Therapist serving students in a dynamic school environment located near Sugar Land, TX, beginning August 11, 2026, through May 26, 2027. This flexible role offers both full-time (37.5 hours/week) and part-time (20+ hours/week) options. As operations expand, hours may increase, so adaptability is a plus.

In this position, you will:

• Provide individual and group music therapy sessions on campus, ensuring alignment with student IEPs and district goals
• Assess and document student progress, adapting approaches and equipment as necessary to advance student outcomes
• Conduct initial student evaluations and determine eligibility for music therapy services
• Collaborate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings, contributing expertise on assessment interpretation and goal setting
• Consult with teachers, staff, parents, and administrators to enhance the overall effectiveness of music therapy programs
• Offer staff development and training on music therapy processes and benefits
• Foster a supportive learning environment that meets students' diverse developmental needs
• Maintain accurate, confidential records and comply with federal, state, and local policies and procedures
• Actively participate in relevant professional development

To thrive in this role, you should have:

• National Certification in Music Therapy
• Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings, especially with students with autism and developmental disabilities
• Strong knowledge of assessment protocols, intervention strategies, and documentation standards for music therapy within IEP frameworks
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to undergo fingerprinting and district credentialing if not already completed

Candidates will need to provide their own music equipment. Your work location may include a primary academy as well as supporting other campuses, based on district needs and your schedule preferences.
