Make a meaningful impact supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the upcoming school year. This on-site contract role will be in the vibrant Oviedo and Sanford areas, working with a diverse student population from kindergarten through high school. You’ll focus primarily on providing direct therapy services and compensatory instruction, with opportunities to conduct evaluations as needed. Orientation and Mobility Specialists with strong communication skills and a passion for student success will find this position rewarding and impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments across a K-12 caseload
  • Conduct thorough assessments and craft individualized mobility plans
  • Collaborate with special education staff, families, and school teams to promote student independence
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sessions, progress, and outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all professional, district, and state standards
  • Travel between assigned schools in the district as needed

Ideal Candidate Brings:

  • National Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M/OMS) Licensure
  • Vision certification for professional practice
  • Experience working with school-aged children—particularly in direct service and compensatory instruction
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license, physical professional license, and social security card on hand
  • Ability to complete required credentialing, including fingerprinting, I-9, and required forms
  • Travel readiness and flexibility to serve multiple locations if needed

This contract runs from August 10, 2026 through May 25, 2027, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. Candidates are encouraged to apply soon, as interviews will be conducted on April 27, 2026, and placements are time-sensitive.
