Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Aransas Pass, TX

This contract opportunity begins August 3, 2026, and continues through May 28, 2027, offering approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year.

With a critical shortage of specialists in the region, your expertise is urgently needed to help students achieve greater independence, safety, and confidence. Your work will span various campuses (specifics to be determined soon) in a district deeply committed to supporting learners with visual challenges. The caseload will cover multiple age groups and a variety of student needs, with further details to be provided shortly after discussions with district leadership.

Key Qualifications & Licenses:

• Current Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification
• AVCREP certification or equivalent
• Must meet Texas fingerprinting and credential requirements promptly if not already cleared

Desired Experience & Skills:

• Prior experience supporting students with visual impairments preferred
• Proficiency in O&M assessment, individualized instruction, and adaptive techniques
• Strong communication and collaboration with educators, families, and support staff
• Flexibility to serve multiple campuses as needed

• Conduct individualized O&M assessments
• Design and deliver customized mobility instruction
• Collaborate with IEP teams to support inclusive education
• Maintain accurate student progress notes and compliance documentation
