Apply NowA contract opportunity is available for skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialists to support students in the Denver metropolitan area for the 2026-2027 school year. Assignments will be based in schools serving a diverse student population, where you will play a critical role in enhancing the independent travel skills and safety awareness of visually impaired and blind students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and provide orientation and mobility training tailored to individual student needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to develop and implement effective mobility plans.
- Utilize specialized techniques to promote spatial awareness and safe navigation within school and community environments.
- Maintain accurate records and progress reports in compliance with district guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Active certification from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) with a Special Service License including the School Orientation & Mobility Specialist Endorsement.
- Successful completion of state-required background check and fingerprinting.
- Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with families, educators, and support staff.
- Flexibility to work in various school settings within the district; caseload and specific assignments may vary.
Location & Schedule:
- Positions are onsite within the greater Denver area school district.
- Contract dates run from August 6, 2026, through May 26, 2027.
- Full-time or part-time roles available; number of schools assigned and weekly hours will be determined closer to the start date.
