What you’ll bring:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience supporting children and adolescents with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, teachers, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized O&M instruction tailored to diverse needs
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages student growth and self-advocacy

Your key responsibilities:

  • Deliver onsite orientation and mobility instruction to students, individually and in small groups
  • Assess student needs and develop effective, personalized O&M goals and strategies
  • Teach safe and confident mobility skills, including environmental awareness, cane use, route planning, and travel techniques
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, families, and related service providers to integrate O&M strategies into students’ daily routines
  • Monitor progress and maintain thorough documentation in line with IEP requirements
  • Provide training, resources, and advocacy to support the broader school community’s understanding of mobility needs
