Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working within school settings preferred
  • Ability to design and implement individualized O&M programs for students with visual impairments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaborative teamwork
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine students’ O&M needs and strengths
  • Develop and deliver personalized instruction in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Teach safe and effective navigation strategies, including the use of mobility aids
  • Collaborate with educational staff and families to support student progress and integration
  • Monitor, document, and report on student outcomes throughout the school year
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expertise to educational planning
