Bring your skills as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to make a meaningful impact on students’ independence and confidence. In this contract role, you will serve a small caseload of three students, providing tailored O&M services to help them navigate their educational environments safely and effectively.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct and consultative O&M instruction to three students, each with a unique service plan.
- Deliver direct instruction for Student 1—30 minutes, three times per month.
- Conduct indirect consult/consultative services for Student 2—20 minutes, once per month.
- Support Student 3 with 15 minutes of consult/indirect service and 30 minutes of direct instruction, three times per month.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to share strategies and progress updates.
- Develop and maintain individualized progress notes and reports as required.
- Recommend safe travel strategies and mobility aids, customizing approaches to meet each student’s needs.
- Ensure services are delivered in compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credential or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with students in a school setting is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction and recommendations for diverse learners.
- Organized, reliable, and capable of working independently on a flexible contract schedule.
