Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification or eligibility in North Carolina
  • Demonstrated experience providing OMS services to school-aged (K-12) children
  • Strong knowledge of assessment, goal development, and O&M instruction techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and school personnel
  • Willingness to travel between schools as an itinerant provider
  • Comfortable with a range of instructional settings and student needs
  • Flexibility and excellent organizational skills

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ orientation and mobility needs
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction and training to support student goals
  • Consult with teachers and staff to integrate O&M strategies in educational programs
  • Provide direct one-on-one and group training in safe travel, cane techniques, and orientation skills
  • Maintain thorough documentation to track progress and communicate with the educational team
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student support planning
