Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Carnesville, GA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist or as a combined O&M/VI professional. This unique assignment begins August 3, 2026, and continues through May 28, 2027. With a flexible structure—either one combined practitioner serving both disciplines or two separate specialists—you’ll serve a low caseload (up to 4-6 students) and provide expert guidance to help students with visual impairments gain confidence and independence.

Enjoy the chance to make a meaningful impact through up to 8 hours of service per month for each role, or 16 hours monthly if fulfilling both O&M and VI duties. You’ll collaborate with educators and families to deliver tailored services that empower students in their academic and daily lives.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Certification in Orientation and Mobility and/or Vision Impairment (required)
• Experience working with children or adolescents, especially students K-12
• Strong communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families
• Adaptable, professional approach and a commitment to excellence in educational support

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, and implement instruction to support orientation, mobility, and independent travel for students with visual impairments
• Collaborate with other educational professionals to develop and update individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Document progress and provide feedback to parents, staff, and the educational team
• Travel to assigned school sites as needed within the contracted hours
