Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
  • Deep understanding of mobility techniques, adaptive devices, and technology for individuals with vision loss
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized mobility plans and assessments

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments for students, identifying strengths and needs
  • Create and implement individualized instructional plans to enhance safe, independent travel
  • Teach techniques for using canes, adaptive technology, and environmental cues in diverse settings
