A contract opportunity is available for Orientation and Mobility Specialists to support students in the Denver, CO area for the 2026-2027 school year. This role focuses on providing specialized services to students requiring orientation and mobility support within public schools. Assignments and exact school locations will be determined as the district finalizes its staffing needs, with opportunities for both full-time and part-time roles.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and develop individualized orientation and mobility plans for students with visual impairments.
- Collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals to ensure student success and safety.
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students across varying age groups in school settings.
- Monitor student progress and adjust strategies as needed to enhance independence and mobility.
- Maintain compliance with district policies, including timely completion of required documentation and background checks.
Qualifications:
- Active State Department of Education (CDE) Special Service License with a School Orientation and Mobility Specialist Endorsement.
- Ability to complete district-required background check and fingerprinting.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with school teams.
- Prior experience working with school-age children with visual impairments is preferred but new professionals with up to 2 years of experience are welcome.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying school environments and caseloads.
Location and Schedule:
- Positions are based onsite in the Denver area, within public schools.
- The school district serves multiple campuses, which may vary by assignment.
- Hours per week are to be determined according to the district’s staffing needs and may include both part-time and full-time positions.
