From February to June 2027, you’ll play a vital role ensuring independence and accessibility for approximately 25 students across several campuses, supporting learners from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 during a maternity leave coverage.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification/licensure is required
- Experience working with students across a wide PK-12 age range
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with teachers, staff, and families
- Ability to travel to multiple educational settings within the district
- Passion for empowering students with visual impairments to navigate their learning environments safely and confidently
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized mobility plans
- Provide direct training in safe, effective travel techniques both indoors and outdoors
- Collaborate with educational teams on accessibility, accommodations, and best practices
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and progress records
- Serve as a resource for school personnel and families on orientation and mobility matters
- Adapt approaches as needed to address diverse student abilities and environments
