Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) - Easton, PA

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience working in educational settings, preferably with children and young adults
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with assessment tools and developing individualized education strategies
• Ability to adapt instructional methods to diverse learning needs and environments
• Compassionate, patient, and resourceful demeanor

Role Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ orientation and mobility abilities, setting personalized goals
• Plan and deliver engaging instruction to improve travel safety, environmental awareness, and cane techniques
• Collaborate closely with teachers, families, and IEP teams for integrated student support
• Provide written progress reports and document interventions as required
• Educate school staff on best practices and accessibility guidelines related to orientation and mobility
• Conduct regular skill-building activities indoors and outdoors, adapting for seasonal needs
