This contract position offers a fulfilling opportunity to support students’ independence and mobility skills during a leave coverage, starting August 31, 2026. The role’s consistent Monday through Friday schedule ensures a stable workweek, with hours totaling 35 per week (7.5 hours per day, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch).

Qualifications and Key Experience:

  • Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired or have mobility challenges
  • Strong understanding of assessment and instructional strategies for O&M
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, teachers, and families
  • Ability to adapt techniques for a variety of school environments

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluating students’ orientation and mobility needs and developing individualized instruction plans
  • Teaching safe, effective travel skills both indoors and outdoors
  • Collaborating with special education teams to integrate O&M goals across settings
  • Maintaining comprehensive records and reporting on student progress
  • Providing resources and support to educators and families to ensure student success
  • Advocating for accessibility and safety within the school and community
