Orientation & Mobility Specialist - Elberton, GA

Step into a rewarding contract position guiding K-12 students towards greater independence and confidence. This unique opportunity allows either a combined Orientation and Mobility (O&M)/Vision Impairment (VI) professional or two separate specialists to make a meaningful difference with a manageable caseload in a supportive educational environment.

Key Details:

• Contract period: August 3, 2026 – May 28, 2027
• Flexible structure: Serve as a dual-certified O&M/VI provider or as individual O&M and VI specialists
• Hours: Up to 16 per month total; or 8 per role, supporting a small group of up to 4-6 K-12 students
• The focus is on a handful of students in need of expert services for Orientation and Mobility

What You’ll Need:

• Current, valid certification in Orientation and Mobility and/or Vision Impairment
• Experience or genuine interest in working with K-12 students in an educational setting
• A collaborative mindset to liaise with teachers, families, and support staff
• Effective communication skills and compassion for varying student abilities

Core Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ O&M needs
• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans to enhance safe navigation and mobility skills
• Provide direct instruction both on campus and in community settings
• Monitor progress, maintaining clear and thorough documentation
• Work closely with other educators and families to facilitate student success
