Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) required
  • Proven ability to assess, plan, and implement individualized O&M programs in school settings
  • Knowledge of current best practices and adaptive technology in orientation and mobility instruction
  • Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and educational staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability for working with a varied caseload

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive orientation and mobility evaluations and develop skill-building strategies
  • Deliver direct and consultative O&M instruction to students, fostering greater independence
  • Design and monitor individualized goals and progress based on student needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful learning environments
  • Offer in-service training and resources to staff and families as needed
  • Complete all required documentation, progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings
