Empower students to move safely and confidently in their school and community environments as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist for the upcoming academic year. Work in a vibrant educational setting near Fremont, California, and help students with visual impairments gain independence as you foster meaningful, supportive relationships.

In this full-time, contract position for the 2026-2027 school year, you'll collaborate with educational teams and families to design and implement personalized orientation and mobility instruction. As the caseload will be finalized soon, you’ll enjoy the chance to make a real difference for diverse learners.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working in K-12 educational environments is highly valued
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and school staff
  • Skilled in assessing student needs and adapting instruction for a variety of learning styles and abilities
  • Knowledge of current best practices and adaptive technologies for students with visual impairments
  • Ability to develop and document individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress reports

Your Impact:

  • Conduct orientation and mobility assessments to identify student needs and strengths
  • Develop and deliver tailored instructional programs that support safe, independent travel
  • Instruct students one-on-one and in groups, both on-campus and in community settings
  • Communicate student progress and strategies to educational teams and families
  • Offer consultative support to teachers and staff regarding accommodations and inclusion
  • Maintain thorough records and comply with all district and state requirements
