Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification and experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS).
- Demonstrated skill in working with students with visual impairments, fostering independence and confidence.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators, students, and families.
- Ability to develop and implement effective mobility training plans to suit individual student needs.
- Open to both local and out-of-state candidates who meet certification requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students’ mobility needs.
- Develop individualized instruction programs that promote safe and effective travel skills.
- Work closely with educational teams to support student integration within school and community environments.
- Track student progress, maintaining detailed documentation and communicating outcomes to stakeholders.
- Stay current with best practices and guidelines for orientation and mobility instruction.
