Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Knowledge of best practices in providing orientation and mobility instruction to school-aged learners
  • Experience working with students in K-12 educational settings, preferred
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and support staff
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized plans based on student needs
  • Valid credentials required for serving in schools

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct orientation and mobility instruction tailored to individual student goals
  • Conduct thorough assessments to inform instruction and track progress
  • Collaborate with educational teams to integrate mobility strategies into students’ educational programs
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports, progress notes, and documentation
  • Provide consultative support to teachers, families, and staff to ensure a safe and inclusive environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contributing relevant information and recommendations
  • Offer training on orientation and mobility tools, techniques, and resources
