Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
• Understanding of current O&M best practices and adaptive equipment
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to design and implement individualized student plans
• Valid license or credential as required to practice in your specialty

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments and develop orientation and mobility programs tailored to each student’s abilities and environment
• Teach students safe, independent travel techniques in school and public settings
• Collaborate with educational teams, families, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support
• Provide progress reports and recommendations for further services or adaptations
• Train staff and family members in foundational O&M strategies as needed
• Document all services in compliance with applicable guidelines
