Make a lasting impact by sharing your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting students’ independence and access to their educational environments. This contract opportunity focuses on three students who benefit from your specialized support, ensuring they can confidently and safely navigate school and beyond.

You’ll work with a manageable caseload:

  • Student 1: 30 minutes, 3 times per month of direct instruction
  • Student 2: 20 minutes, once per month consult/indirect service
  • Student 3: 15 minutes, once per month consult/indirect service, plus 30 minutes, 3 times per month direct instruction

Desired Experience & Skills:

  • Current certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working in school-based settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to develop individualized plans and adapt instructional strategies
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and families
  • Organized, self-motivated, and reliable when managing a flexible schedule
  • Passion for empowering students with visual impairments

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in Orientation and Mobility techniques tailored for each student
  • Provide consultative and indirect support to staff and families to maximize student outcomes
  • Document progress, update service logs, and participate in collaborative planning
  • Adapt routes, interventions, and materials based on students’ evolving needs
  • Advocate for safe, accessible, and inclusive learning environments
