Make a meaningful difference supporting K-12 students with vision needs in a supportive educational setting. Seeking a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for a flexible, contract-based role starting August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. This rewarding opportunity enables you to work with a small, focused caseload—either as a combined Orientation & Mobility and Vision Impairment specialist, or as separate roles, based on your expertise and preferences.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Current certification in Orientation and Mobility, and Vision Impairment (VI), as appropriate for the role(s).
  • Experience working with K-12 students, especially those with visual impairments or blindness.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, and families.
  • Flexibility and initiative to adapt services to individual student needs.
  • A commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative orientation and mobility instruction to students across K-12.
  • Assess student strengths and needs; develop and implement individualized service plans.
  • Collaborate with school staff and families on student progress, mobility strategies, and accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate student records and document services in accordance with educational and legal requirements.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive environment as students learn travel and navigation skills on campus or in the community.
  • Flexible hours: Up to 8 hours per month per role, or up to 16 hours monthly if combining both OMS and VI responsibilities, serving a small caseload of 4-6 students.
