This onsite assignment, set in a vibrant educational environment, starts September 1, 2026, and runs through June 14, 2027. Work directly with learners of various ages and abilities, helping them build critical orientation and mobility skills that foster greater independence.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist license
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in educational settings
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and educators
- Passion for fostering independence and confidence in students with visual impairments
- Ability to develop and implement individualized O&M plans across a range of ages
- Commitment to onsite service and reliable attendance
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs within a K-12 population
- Develop, implement, and document individualized instructional plans
- Teach travel techniques, safety, and use of assistive technology to students
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary educational teams and families
- Adapt instruction for diverse student needs, learning environments, and goals
- Maintain accurate records and timely reporting
This contract role provides a consistent weekly schedule—32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.—offering the ability to truly become part of your students’ daily school experience.
