Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) | Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania

An exciting contract opportunity awaits a passionate Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students for the remainder of the 25/26 school year in a dynamic educational environment near Jersey Shore, PA. Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility
• Current COMS certification via ACVREP
• Valid state driver’s license and the ability to travel to multiple school sites as needed
• Experience working with visually impaired students (preferred)
• Skilled in the development and implementation of individualized instructional plans

Responsibilities:

• Participate in student referral and assessment processes
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations focusing on orientation, mobility, sensory development, and travel skills
• Develop and document IEP/IFSP goals for students
• Provide direct, individualized O&M instructional services and consult with staff and families
• Recommend appropriate program modifications and specialized services
• Maintain and manage travel devices and equipment
• Utilize ongoing assessments to track and report student progress
• Lead in-service training sessions for staff, families, and the community
• Advise school personnel to ensure safe and efficient environments
• Keep thorough documentation of all services provided
