Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility
- Current COMS certification via ACVREP
- Valid state driver’s license and the ability to travel to multiple school sites as needed
- Experience working with visually impaired students (preferred)
- Skilled in the development and implementation of individualized instructional plans
Responsibilities:
- Participate in student referral and assessment processes
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations focusing on orientation, mobility, sensory development, and travel skills
- Develop and document IEP/IFSP goals for students
- Provide direct, individualized O&M instructional services and consult with staff and families
- Recommend appropriate program modifications and specialized services
- Maintain and manage travel devices and equipment
- Utilize ongoing assessments to track and report student progress
- Lead in-service training sessions for staff, families, and the community
- Advise school personnel to ensure safe and efficient environments
- Keep thorough documentation of all services provided
