You’ll work under a contract arrangement through the end of the 25/26 school year, playing a crucial role in fostering independence and safe navigation skills in a school environment near Jersey Shore, PA.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility
  • Active COMS certification issued by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)
  • Valid state driver’s license, with the ability to travel on short notice
  • Strong background working with visually impaired students in educational settings

Core Responsibilities:

  • Participate in referral and assessment processes for students with visual impairments
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations in areas such as orientation, environmental awareness, effective travel techniques, the use of low vision devices, and personal safety
  • Set tailored IEP/IFSP goals and adapt programs as necessary to meet student needs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor instructional plans to enhance students’ orientation and mobility skills
  • Provide direct instruction and hands-on training for students, collaborating with school staff and families as needed
  • Oversee the ordering and maintenance of canes and low-vision travel devices
  • Maintain detailed documentation of instructional services and progress assessments
  • Lead or contribute to in-service trainings for educators, staff, and community members
  • Advise on physical environment design and modifications for student safety and efficiency
