This is an excellent opportunity to help individuals with visual impairments gain greater independence and access to their community, classrooms, and daily life. Full-time, onsite roles are available for two passionate professionals who thrive on making a meaningful difference each day.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or eligibility for certification
  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in school settings
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with educators, families, and other service providers
  • Ability to assess students’ orientation and mobility needs and develop individualized plans
  • Proficiency in teaching travel skills, use of assistive technology, and environmental awareness
  • Organizational abilities to document progress and adapt instruction as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional mobility assessments for students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement instruction that enhances safe, independent movement at school and in the community
  • Teach cane skills, spatial concepts, and techniques for safe navigation in various environments
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support IEP goals and student growth
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies for optimal outcomes
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school environment
