This opportunity allows for flexible structuring: work in a combined O&M/VI role or as two distinct positions. Serve up to 8 hours per month per specialty—either individually or totaling 16 hours per month for a dual-capacity professional—providing essential support to a small, manageable caseload (4-6 students).
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) and Vision Impairment (VI)
- Previous experience working with K-12 students, ideally in a school setting
- Strong communication skills with ability to adapt instruction to varied student needs
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote student independence
- Commitment to supporting students with diverse backgrounds and abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized orientation and mobility instruction for students with visual impairments
- Teach safe, independent travel skills in school, home, and community environments
- Work collaboratively with special education teams to ensure effective integration and ongoing support
- Maintain clear documentation of student progress, program plans, and required reports
