You'll deliver direct and consultative O&M services to a small, manageable caseload of three students. Your interventions will be highly individualized, ensuring each student receives the attention and skill-building they need to thrive. Services are split between direct sessions and indirect or consultative support, offering a well-rounded, flexible experience for both you and the students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) credentials required
- Experience working with students in a school-based setting
- Knowledgeable in age-appropriate O&M instructional strategies
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate approach and patience in fostering student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct O&M instruction to students as scheduled (including 30-minute and 15-minute sessions multiple times per month)
- Offer consultative guidance and indirect services to staff and families, tailoring recommendations for individual student success
- Assess needs, set measurable goals, and create progress reports
- Develop and implement safe travel plans for school and community settings
- Advise educational teams on accommodations and assistive tools
- Maintain compliance with documentation and IEP requirements
