Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license required
  • Experience supporting K-12 students with diverse abilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering student independence and skill development
  • Ability to adapt instruction to individual needs and various ages

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver O&M instruction to students with visual impairments from kindergarten through high school
  • Assess student mobility skills and develop individualized learning plans
  • Teach orientation concepts, safe travel techniques, and the effective use of mobility tools (e.g., white cane)
  • Consult with educational teams, families, and other service providers to support student goals
  • Provide training and resources to staff as needed
  • Maintain detailed and timely documentation of student progress
  • Ensure safe and effective learning environments onsite
