Make a real impact supporting K–12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in a welcoming educational environment. This contract opportunity runs from September 1, 2026, through June 14, 2027, offering consistent weekday hours (32.5 per week, 8:15 am–3:15 pm) in a school-based setting near Lowell, MA. Work onsite within a collaborative team to help children and adolescents build confidence and independence in navigation and orientation skills.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist license required
  • Experience working with K–12 students across various age groups is preferred
  • Ability to create and implement individualized orientation and mobility training plans
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with best practices in blindness and low vision education
  • Understanding of safety protocols related to student travel and community navigation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ current mobility and orientation abilities
  • Develop and deliver tailored instructional programs
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families on goals and progress
  • Document sessions, maintain records, and participate in meetings as needed
  • Provide recommendations for strategies, tools, and environmental modifications
  • Foster independence and safe navigation in school and community settings
