Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Mckeesport, PA

Step into a rewarding position working closely with a student in a home setting as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS). Your approach will help the student confidently navigate and locate key features in their home by applying spatial and positional concepts—including left/right, near/far, in/out, and next to. The primary objective is to strengthen their orientation and mobility skills to reach specific targets, aligning with both Pennsylvania and ECC standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid endorsement as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist
• Experience supporting students with complex or significant needs
• Familiarity with implementing individualized goals using spatial and positional concepts
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Compassionate, patient, and resourceful approach to individualized instruction

Responsibilities:

• Deliver two 40-minute sessions per week, focused on the student’s mobility and orientation goals
• Assess, plan, and implement strategies to help the student identify and safely navigate environmental features
• Document progress and adjust strategies based on student response
