Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold current credential/licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience working with children or students in educational settings preferred
- Ability to design and implement personalized orientation and mobility instruction
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with educational teams, families, and students
- Adaptable approach to serve varying student needs, ages, and ability levels
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing your schedule efficiently
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ orientation and mobility needs through direct observation and collaboration with IEP teams
- Provide individualized instruction to foster safe travel skills in home, school, and community environments
- Document student progress and participation according to school and district expectations
- Consult with teachers, specialists, and parents to promote accessible learning environments
- Participate in meetings and contribute expertise to support students’ overall development
