Make a significant impact in the educational journey of K-12 students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the upcoming academic year. This is an onsite contract opportunity, supporting a dynamic learning community and collaborating with educators to ensure students with visual impairments develop crucial orientation and mobility skills for independence and success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist license required.
  • Prior experience working with K-12 students across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Strong understanding of adaptive techniques and accessible travel tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to develop individualized plans and document student progress effectively.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation and mobility instruction to K-12 students, tailoring strategies to individual educational needs.
  • Assess students’ current mobility skills and adapt interventions based on ongoing evaluations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to integrate best practices and ensure consistent skill development.
  • Prepare progress reports and maintain accurate records in accordance with program requirements.
  • Uphold all safety protocols and stay updated on industry trends and legal requirements for orientation and mobility services.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as needed to contribute expertise and recommendations.
