Soliant is seeking a qualified and experienced Occupational Mobility Specialist (OMS) to provide specialized support to students during the 2026–2027 school year.

This opportunity is ideal for a dedicated OMS who is passionate about supporting students with visual impairments and helping them develop the mobility skills needed to safely and confidently navigate their school environment.

Assignment Details

Position: Occupational Mobility Specialist (OMS)
Schedule: Full-Time
School Year: 2026–2027
Setting: In-person, school-based
Caseload: Specific caseload details will be discussed during the interview process
Pay Rate: $40-50/hr, depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized mobility instruction and support to students within a school-based setting.
  • Assess students' mobility needs and provide individualized instruction based on their abilities and goals.
  • Teach students skills that promote safe, efficient, and independent navigation of their school environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, administrators, and related service professionals.
  • Support students in developing greater independence and confidence with mobility-related skills.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized student plans and goals as appropriate.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and student support teams regarding mobility needs and progress.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries within the school environment.

Required Qualifications

  • AVCREP Certification or similar for the state of California.
  • Experience providing mobility services to students preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mobility instruction and strategies for supporting students with visual impairments.
  • Ability to work effectively with students across a school-based environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in person for the duration of the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Experience working in a school-based or educational setting.
  • Familiarity with IEP teams and multidisciplinary student support services.
  • Experience collaborating with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), classroom teachers, and related service professionals.
  • Strong ability to individualize instruction based on student needs.
