Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working in K–12 educational settings preferred
  • Knowledge of assessment tools and individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
  • Current credentialing and eligibility to work in California

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional plans focused on safe, independent travel skills
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to support student goals
  • Provide direct instruction in a variety of school and community environments
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and document student progress
  • Serve as a resource for staff and families on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
