Your expertise will make a meaningful impact in a supportive educational environment. You'll work with a manageable caseload—7 students receiving direct O&M services and 2 additional students on a consultative basis. Collaborate with school teams and families while ensuring each student’s unique needs are addressed and their confidence strengthened.

What we look for in candidates:

  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
  • Experience working in school settings or with children and adolescents
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Understanding of current best practices in O&M instruction
  • Adaptability and creativity when developing and delivering individualized plans
  • Commitment to fostering independence and safety for students with visual impairments

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments and developing individualized O&M strategies
  • Providing direct instruction to students, supporting independent travel in various settings
  • Consulting with educational teams, families, and other professionals to optimize student support
  • Documenting services, progress, and ongoing needs clearly and efficiently
  • Attending IEP and team meetings and contributing informed recommendations
  • Staying current with O&M advancements and integrating evidence-based approaches
