Key Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) or eligibility for OMS certification
• Experience working with children and young adults who are visually impaired or blind
• Solid understanding of instructional strategies for orientation and mobility in educational settings
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Creative, flexible approach to problem-solving and adapting lessons
• Ability to manage caseload and documentation efficiently

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of student orientation and mobility needs
• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans
• Teach safe and effective travel skills in school, home, and community settings
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and family members to monitor student progress
• Provide consultation and training for educational staff on best practices
• Complete required reporting and maintain accurate records in a timely manner
