Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) | Oviedo, Florida

Empower K–12 students through mobility and independence as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist at a vibrant school setting near Oviedo, FL. This contract opportunity offers the ideal environment to work closely with students across a range of ages, providing primarily compensatory services and direct therapy, while occasionally assisting with evaluations. The assignment runs from June 1, 2026, through May 25, 2027, with initial training and planning on May 29. Enjoy a balanced schedule of 28 hours per week, working Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Qualifications and Experience:

• National Orientation and Mobility (O&M / OMS) Licensure required
• Experience or strong interest in K–12 populations
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and social security card
• Physical copy of professional license
• Willingness to complete required credentialing, including fingerprinting and demographic forms
• Ability to travel to different area schools as assigned
• Commitment to providing high-quality, student-centered services
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct orientation and mobility therapy to students in grades K–12
• Support students’ independence and safe navigation in school and community environments
• Conduct evaluations when needed
• Maintain detailed and timely documentation of services and student progress
• Collaborate with educators, families, and other service providers to develop strategies and goals
• Flexibly travel to school sites as caseload assignments change
