Step into a rewarding opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, working directly with K-12 students to deliver essential compensatory and direct therapy services for the upcoming school year. This contract position is based onsite in dynamic school environments in the Oviedo and Sanford areas, offering the chance to impact young learners’ independence and success.
We’re seeking adaptable, compassionate professionals to provide hands-on orientation and mobility instruction and support evaluations as needed. Your expertise will empower students with visual impairments, fostering skill development that prepares them for academic achievement and greater self-sufficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- National Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Licensure required
- Vision certification necessary to fulfill role requirements
- Prior experience with K–12 learners strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to provide a social security card, professional license physical copy, and pass Form 1403 fingerprinting (Field Print location receipt required)
- Completion of a demographic form and I9 (sections 1 and 2)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to interdisciplinary work
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver compensatory services and direct, individualized orientation and mobility therapy to students in multiple school settings
- Conduct relevant evaluations as requested to align with student IEP goals
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to enhance student safety, navigation skills, and confidence
- Document progress, maintain compliance with district protocols, and uphold a student-centered environment
